A lot of motorcycle accidents don’t make the headlines, and if we aren’t working in law enforcement or making ambulance runs, these frightening collisions can escape our notice.
But Bakersfield streets and highways can be dangerous places, and plenty of riders suffer serious and life-threatening injuries without making the nightly news. To get drivers to show more caution around motorcyclists, Maison Law Accident & Injury Lawyers wanted to highlight just how many of these heartbreaking crashes occur in our area each year.
Bakersfield Motorcycle Accident Totals
In 2024, the most recent year for which statistics have been released, Bakersfield recorded 101 motorcycle accidents involving injury. That’s according to California’s Transportation Injury Mapping System (TIMS).
The figure is the highest in the past five years, but in truly surprising and welcome news, there were no fatal motorcycle accidents recorded in the city, according to TIMS. It remains to be seen if 2025 accident numbers will be lower once the year’s accident data is totaled and released.

The number of motorcyclists injured in 2024 accidents was also very high. 104 riders suffered injuries in crashes for the year. That’s the most since 2020. That’s the verdict from figures confirmed by California’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS).

Do I Need a Lawyer After a Bakersfield Motorcycle Accident?
If your accident left you with serious injuries, and a careless driver was at fault, you should talk to a Bakersfield Motorcycle Accident Lawyer about your next move. Trusting that a car insurance company will accept fault and pay all of your recovery bills can leave you to pay many of your own medical expenses. This is unacceptable for a crash you didn’t cause.
A lawyer can protect your claim by making sure car insurance companies can’t change the facts in the accident and shift the blame.
Your lawyer also has a great chance to secure much more for you. This is often much more than you could hope to win by filing a claim yourself.
